The Wall Street Journal: A Billionaire and an Oscar Winner Have Made a Hit Movie. It’s About Investing.
Wall Street Journal columnist Ben Cohen recently sat down with Dimensional Founder David Booth and documentary filmmaker Errol Morris to discuss why they pursued Tune Out the Noise and what they hoped to achieve. Booth wanted to help everyday investors understand how public markets really work, so he “financed a documentary from one of the world’s most renowned filmmakers and put it on the world’s most popular entertainment platform.” (US audiences can now stream the film for free on YouTube. Dimensional plans to distribute it to additional countries later this year.) Morris, recounting his early career as a private investigator, described the film as “a really compelling investigation into the nature of what makes sense for an individual investor.” The result, says the Journal, is “the story of radical ideas that became powerful enough to move trillions of dollars” and “created the revolutionary financial products that we have come to depend on.”
