Dimensional Names Savina Rizova Co-CIO, Makes Additional Leadership Appointments

Dimensional Fund Advisors has announced that its Global Head of Research, Savina Rizova, will become Co-Chief Investment Officer alongside Co-CEO Gerard O’Reilly, effective February 1. (O’Reilly also led Dimensional’s Research team prior to being named Co-CEO and CIO in 2017.) As Co-CIOs, O’Reilly and Rizova will lead a team of more than 300 investment professionals across six countries.

Born in Bulgaria and educated in the United States, Rizova was recognized by Barron’s in 2023 as one of the 100 Most Influential Women in US Finance. Rizova joined the Dimensional team in 2004 and has led the firm’s Research department since 2017. She holds a PhD in finance and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. As an undergraduate at Dartmouth College, she was a research assistant to Professor Kenneth French.
As Global Head of Research, Rizova works closely with leading academics—from Eugene Fama and Robert Merton to Robert Novy-Marx and Marco Di Maggio—collaborating on research, coauthoring papers, and partnering with Dimensional’s broader investment team to implement robust research in live portfolios. She has been instrumental in researching and executing enhancements related to the profitability and investment premiums.
Dimensional also announced two other leadership appointments. Brad Steiman, formerly Head of the Wealth Management Group for Dimensional Fund Advisors Canada ULC (Dimensional Canada), was named President of Dimensional Canada as of January 1. And Chief Talent Officer Stacey Winning will become Global Co-Head of Human Resources alongside longtime HR chief Aaron Marcus as of February 1.
Steiman launched Dimensional Canada’s financial advisor business and opened its Vancouver office shortly after joining Dimensional in 2002 and is a Director of Dimensional Canada. He started the Toronto office in 2013 and leads the team focused on helping Canadian financial advisors build and grow their businesses. Under Steiman’s leadership, Dimensional Canada now manages more than $20 billion CAD and has earned a reputation for delivering a great experience for financial professionals, prioritizing impactful in-person interactions and frequently selling out conferences.
Since joining Dimensional in 2012, Winning has been a driving force behind enhancements to the firm’s employee experience—from the launch of Dimensional University and investments in how the firm rewards and recognizes employees to establishing and serving as Chair of Dimensional’s Executive Council for Diversity and Inclusion. She partners with leaders across the organization to help Dimensional attract, develop, and retain a highly skilled and collaborative team. She also regularly consults for financial professionals on human capital issues and talent development strategies for their firms.
Aaron Marcus will continue to partner with Winning on global HR initiatives while also continuing to lead Dimensional’s East Coast headquarters in Charlotte.
